Sailing: Team GB Duo Secure Bronze
Musto and Morgan Finish Second to New Zealand Pair
The British team of Ben Musto and Alex Morgan have secured a bronze medal in the 49er class at the Sailing World Championships in Weymouth, England.
The pair finished second to the New Zealand pair of Helmer Pedersen and Peter Burling in the medal race, with the Australian team of Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen taking gold.
Musto and Morgan had led the regatta going into the medal race, but a poor start cost them the chance of victory.
However, they recovered well to finish second and secure a podium finish.
“We're really happy with the bronze medal,” said Musto. “We sailed well all week and we're proud of what we've achieved.”
Morgan added: “It was a tough race today, but we gave it our all. We're delighted to have won a medal for Great Britain.”
Musto and Morgan's bronze medal is Great Britain's first medal of the Sailing World Championships.
Conclusion
The British duo's success is a testament to their hard work and dedication. They will now be looking to build on this result and challenge for a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
