Ubisoft and Unfrozen Provide New Gameplay Details for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era
An Ancient Evil Awakens on the Map of Ashan
Ubisoft and the Russian studio Unfrozen have revealed new information about the gameplay modes in Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the next entry in the legendary turn-based strategy series. The game is set in the era before the events of Heroes of Might and Magic III and explores the origins of the beloved fantasy world of Ashan.
Exciting New Gameplay Modes
Olden Era will feature a variety of gameplay modes to cater to different player preferences. The classic Campaign mode will tell the story of the ancient world of Ashan and the rise of the first heroes. The Battle mode will allow players to engage in standalone battles with AI opponents or other players online. The Skirmish mode will offer a customizable experience where players can set their own rules and conditions for battles.
In addition to these traditional modes, Olden Era will also introduce several new gameplay innovations. The Trials mode will provide a series of challenging scenarios that test players' strategic skills. The Duel mode will allow players to engage in one-on-one battles with specific heroes, each with unique abilities and playstyles.
The developers at Unfrozen have also revealed that Olden Era will feature a redesigned combat system that offers more tactical depth and control to players. The new system will allow players to position their units on the battlefield with greater precision and utilize terrain and obstacles to their advantage.
Heroes and Factions of Olden Era
Olden Era will introduce a roster of new heroes, each with unique abilities and skills. Players will also be able to control iconic heroes from Heroes of Might and Magic III, such as Crag Hack, Solmyr, and Gelu. The game will feature seven playable factions, including the Haven, Necropolis, Inferno, Academy, Fortress, Conflux, and Dungeon.
Each faction will have its own unique strengths and weaknesses, and players will need to adapt their strategies to the faction they choose. The Haven faction, for example, excels at defense and healing, while the Necropolis faction specializes in necromancy and undead legions.
Crafting and Town Management
In Olden Era, players will be able to craft powerful artifacts and items to enhance their heroes and armies. Crafting will require players to gather resources and visit specific crafting locations on the map. Players will also be able to manage and develop their towns, constructing new buildings and upgrading existing ones to improve their economy and research abilities.
Olden Era is scheduled for release in 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Ubisoft and Unfrozen have promised to release more information about the game in the coming months.
